You must know the Farmesters, right? Those trendsetters living on the countryside and producing your food...

A true Farmester is a farmer proud of his or hers work, smiling while driving a tractor. Their daily work, if something in this world, has a meaning as we all must eat.

Farmesters might have seen the world, but taking over the family farm was an obvious choice after all. A farmester does not make quarter plans, he makes quarter-century plans.

Farmesters don’t want to build barriers between the country side and the urban areas, but act as a link between them and enjoy the advantages of both. Spotting a farmester downtown, you might mix him into a hipster –which he of course isn’t.

These myssys have been inspired by the heritage of Finnish farming culture and they can be worn downtown just as well as on the farm.

We are proud to announce that actor Lauri Tilkanen from Pöytyä has joined the Farmester family with his favorite Myssy. Farmesters are those trendsetters living on the countryside and producing your food. So far, all faces posing for the collection have been local farmers proud of their work. So, choosing Lauri was quite an exception, or was it?

A true Farmester is proud of one’s work and origin, staying always open minded. Farmesters don't want to build barriers between the country side and the urban areas, but act as a link between them and enjoy the advantages of both. This suits Mr. Tilkanen, proud of his farming roots, perfectly well. After a decade in Helsinki, he still finds himself more of a country boy than a city one.

Tilkanen is from the Tilkanen farm that is located in the village of Tilkanen, Pöytyä. The farm has belonged to the Tilkanen family since 1730. With this kind of background, one might never be able to become a Helsinki city boy. Lauri grew up working hard on the farm with his siblings and cousins, and it wasn't that many years ago that he still participated in the season work with the old Valmet tractor. Tilkanen, being one of the most celebrated Finnish actors of the decade, has openly referred to his country background in media and told that he dreams of taking over the family farm one day. For him the Tilkanen village is soul landscape and a place to charge the batteries. Asking in the photo shootings, if he still dreams returning, makes him smile.

Each Farmester Myssy is named after the farm or for example a favorite tractor of the Farmester. In this case it is of course "Tilkanen".

Tilkanen wool hat is 100% organic Finnsheep wool and the deep blue colour has been hand-dyed with natural dyes only.
